The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Preview Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination released the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Beloved Titles
Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Come Back and Grow
The film will feature once again of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
The company has a trio of new releases already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
