Peacemaker Second Season Finale to Fix Major Viewer Grievance, James Gunn Announces
While audience feedback for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely positive, with viewers and reviewers praising the acting and plot—even if the big twist in the seventh installment wasn't exactly a surprise—one critique has only grown stronger throughout the season: dwindling runtime lengths.
Over the past few episodes, audience members have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced episode lengths this season, and indeed, the episodes have been progressively briefer. The seventh episode, titled “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the summary, title sequence, and end credits), marking the briefest installment yet.
You'll be happy to learn the upcoming finale is over 57 minutes long.
Peacemaker showrunner and DC Universe head James Gunn posted via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.
Although this is encouraging, it's unknown what portion of the 57 minutes will be actual new footage, free from opening and ending sequences, or summaries of past episodes. That said, even if the episode contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves roughly three-quarters of an hour for the finale, which is a significant improvement after episode 7.
The director earlier teased that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also provide clues regarding the future the greater DCU as a whole will be moving and serve as a prequel of sorts for the next Superman movie. Considering the cameo of Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a juicy cameo to cap off the show.
The show's season conclusion, the eighth episode, is titled "The Full Nelson," and audiences must wait to see if viewer theories are proven correct.
