I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-bout match which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants confronted each other to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Ex two time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, said.

"I will dominate him completely. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Exchange

In spite of such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually famous for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.

"I give him credit for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer continues to be one of the sport's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in rounds four or five and claimed he would stop the much-anticipated match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly under discussion for two years from now.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Size Disparity

As both boxers met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference evident, it drove home just how surprising this complete situation is - and how amazing it is that the match is actually happening.
